I’m a strong believer in distance education. Not only do I use it myself, but I often find myself recommending distance courses to others very often. I have been looking for a graduate business degree for the last year, trying to push aside the all pervasive University of Phoenix or AIU (for-profit) schools. Through talking with some people on the craigslist education forums and alot of extensive Googling, I found some surprising results. Graduate distance education Ivy-league degrees. Some are definitely not cheap, but nonetheless, you can live wherever you like and still get an ivy-league degree. Here are the few I found:
Harvard University – Through Harvard’s Extension School, there are quite a few options available, both undergraduate and graduate. Typically Harvard is an expensive school, yet their distance prices are about 1/4 of the cost. Sweet. Some visits to campus are required, but that varies for different programs.
Columbia University – I somewhat stumbled upon the Columbia Video Network at Columbia University. Dubbed as “Graduate Engineering Education”, I also found MS degrees in Methods of finance and Risk and Revenue Management. I was a bit leery of CVN at first, as it is one of the worst designed websites besides this one. After a bit of research, I found that CVN does offer some quality programs. Worth looking into.
I have a few more ideas for online ivy education, those I will write about in a future post. I will be back with some new stuff tomorrow. Possibly some collaborative stuff in the near future. Let me know if you are interested.
